According to Brazil’s BNews, on April 10, Rui Costa, the governor of Bahia, personally arranged a plane to deliver a batch of COVID-19 nucleic acid diagnostic kits from China.
Due to the increasing lack of medical supplies in Brazil, Rui Costa personally arranged a plane to take back the Chinese COVID-19 nucleic acid diagnostic kits from central laboratory in Santa Catarina on April 10. This news was confirmed by Fábio Vilas-Boas, the Secretary of Health Department of State of Bahia, on Twitter this Friday.
“A batch of fluorescent nucleic acid diagnostic kits were sent from San Paolo airport to the state of Bahia, but the flight was cancelled for two consecutive days due to the epidemic. The next batch of goods will only be delivered on Monday. In order to urgently use the diagnostic kits for the detection of novel coronavirus, Costa arranged a plane to transport the said goods”, Fábio wrote on Twitter.
This batch of COVID-19 nucleic acid diagnostic kits were produced by Hybribio, which were shipped from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on March 30 and has now successfully arrived in Bahia, Brazil.
The government of Brazil said that they would purchase more diagnostic kits for local prevention and control of pandemic.
